Worship and Music

Worship is what we do on a Sunday morning. “Worship” means recognizing the “worth-ship” of God – who rescued us lost and lonely sinners – by coming in human-yet-God-Almighty form – Jesus. God is worthy of our thanks and praise. We gather at God's call, hear God's Word, eat at God's table, and go out to serve with God's strength and guidance.

Our Music

Music is vital to us at Christ Lutheran. We sing each Sunday. We use guitar, bells, piano, voices, and pipe organ – and click here to learn more about our historic pipe organ. We sing hymns both ancient and modern. We have a choir and bell choir. We want to use the universal language of music to sing to and about our God.

Briefly, these are phrases that describe our Sunday mornings:

•  Ancient faith
•  Relevant teaching
•  Heartfelt singing (modern songs & hymns)
•  Diverse people
•  Lively Bible teaching
•  Kid-Friendly
•  Focus on forgiveness
•  Holy Communion
•  Specific prayers
•  The occasional coffee, much chatter and laughter
•  The presence of Jesus

What to Expect Sunday Morning

General Atmosphere

Our worship and other activities are pretty easy going, come-as-you-are events. Our desire is that you will feel comfortable and welcomed in every way. We don't think this detracts from the sense of God's presence and holiness. Pastor Peter will be the guy wearing a robe shaking hands by the back door! He's easy to recognize.

Sunday Worship

We get together for worship at 11:00 a.m. It goes about 75 minutes. The worship style is an ancient-future approach. We follow the ancient liturgy of the Church – an order of of doing things, based on the Bible, focused on God gathering us, speaking to us, feeding us, and sending us. We also use the Church Calendar, which means each Sunday focuses on a different part of the Bible, and different parts of Jesus' life. The Bible is always taught and applied to our lives – no matter what our ages - and Holy Communion is celebrated liturgically according to the ancient tradition of the Christian Church.

Am I expected to participate in the offering and Communion?

The offering is for those who are part of the Christ Lutheran family. Instead of wanting you to give something, we want you to get something from your time at worship. And that is a feeling of acceptance at our church and a closer glimpse of God.

Holy Communion is for all baptized members of God' family. We believe it is the true body and blood of Jesus Christ, in, with, and under the bread and the wine, given for the forgiveness of our sins. You are welcome to Jesus' table. (And if you want to be baptized, contact Pastor Peter - pastorpeter@mts.net or 339-8119.)

If it's been a long time since you've been to church, Christ Lutheran has you in mind! There's already enough you have to think about when you're visiting a church for the first time. We hope that getting some of this “stuff” out of the way not only encourages you to join us for church, but also helps you to connect with the hope and encouragement that God has for you.
